December hatch-along

So out of my 50 black stars i had to toss 5 today have 2 that are iffy. Out of my silkie eggs i think i have one that is taking off it is day 8. I am worried because when i candled only a few of the embryos move around but they still seem to be growing so I guess i am just worried to worry. I will candle in a couple more days to make sure that the eggs continue to grow. I have 43 with growing chicks YAY

Good luck!! I'm down to 31. These next two weeks are going to take forever.

Wow..haven't been in here for a while! There are a lot of cuties that have hatched. I have several silkie eggs going strong. Friday is lock down. Nervous time! I've been over on the NYD hatch a long. I set 3 doz. Trader Joe eggs. They Aren't looking so great! :(

I've been folowing the NYD one, but not hatching along. I was half hoping for another broody just in time, but so far, I only have the one really crazy one wanting to hatch chicks in this weather. Heh, now watch another one go broody... lol Sorry about the Trader Joe eggs.

Ended up assisting the last chick, it was malpositioned and couldn't turn to zip. But seems pretty good this morning

I'll give it a little more time before I put it in the brooder with the others.

I ended up with 9 chicks out of the 11eggs that made it to lock down. Pretty pleased with my homemade incubator.

I can't wait for mine to hatch. I still have seven doing well. I do have one egg that has a much larger air sack than the other eggs...Should I be spraying this one down individually to try to stop it from getting much larger? This is a duck egg on day 17.

What's it's weight like? How much has it lost?

I don't know. This is my first hatch. I am using a magicfly incubator and I didn't know it was important to keep additional thermometers, hygrometers, and weights. I am afraid my little guys will be the worst for my learning curve.

It came from a khaki campbell duck and it has a cayuga father. By eyeing it against the other khaki campbell eggs, the air sack is 1/3 to 1/2 a size larger than the others.
