December Hatch:Who is going to have Christmas babies?

I love the red/brown one too!

I have one silkie chick this am, looks to be white. And 4 or 5 more pips! Yay! Today is hatch day!

I had a lavender orphington that when hatched had pink toes but as she grew up they turned grey. I also had one of my silkie chicks hatch with 4 toes. It had other problems and it was a sruggle to get it to live and after nearly a week it just gave up.

All but one of my december hatches are done. I have one more to go and they are due on Christmas eve. The last four I have to take out of the hatcher. I don't normally leave them in this long but I wanted them to get a little stronger and some size to them before I put them in with the others. I've got 20 silkies so far with 13 more eggs to go. I haven't candled them lately so some may be quitters.

One of my silkies has 4 toes on one foot and 5 on the other, but she is healthy.

I have 2 (out of the 62 I set on Dec. 3/4) eggs going into lockdown this afternoon. I figured with only 2 eggs in there; space was not a concern, so I have 3 preheated bricks to provide some stability to my hovabator. I am not really worried about these 2 because they are mix eggs from ebay and after what they have been through (shipping, handling, candling and some wild temp & humidity fluctuations), they will probably survive ANYTHING! I am also expecting both to be roos, because I have read that male embryos are MUCH stronger.

I hope both hatch, mainly because I DO NOT want a lonely, chirpy chick that I will have to buy mirrors, toys and feather dusters for! I do not want to get ultra-attached to a surrogate chick that will probably be a roo!

I now have 4 silkies hatched out and lots more pipped! I will get some pics once they are moved to the brooder. (tomorrow)
It is fun to see all this hatching in the middle of winter!

Okay only one out of 10 eggs made to lockdown yesterday. I have not seen movement in the egg yesterday befor lockdown. I'm not really sad cuz the eggs wer 10 days old and it is my first attempt at a bator. Now that I have figured out temp and humidity. I also have 7 eggs in the bator that were put in on the 12/ 6&7. They all have movement in them. Question should I see peeping tomorrow. In the one egg? Also I was running my temp at 99.5 for a still air. Well I figured it out finally it had to be at 100 to 102. Any help is welcome.

All 3 hatched! The little mutant has 2 friends.....both look to be pure silkie, but I wonder

Actually, I took these eggs off of Pepper after she was sitting 3 weeks and they were behind. She couldn't figure out the 'stay on the eggs' part! I kept finding them in front of her, behind her, buried in shavings. So I popped them in the incubator. I know she didn't lay them all though. I was hoping they were from my sizzle
