December Hatch:Who is going to have Christmas babies?

Well, I put 13 Serama eggs in the incubator tonight, and I really had to scrounge to come up with 13! I have 3 girls brooding on air, including my two white frizzled girls, and a fourth one who decided to join them today, so my plans to put another batch in next weekend are looking rather shaky right now!

Could the Universe be trying to tell me something...???

I now have my supplemental lighting on in the coop, so hopefully my "regular" girls will get the hint, and maybe (!!!) my new girls will take the hint and start laying as well...It has turned rather cold and windy here, but the heater is on in the coop, so they can't use that as an excuse!

Well, just candled on day 7, out of 11 duck eggs, 7 are developing, and one that was smaller and a little brownish looks like its further along, so I think it may be a chicken egg, lol. Goose eggs go in this week.

I gave my little broody some eggs for her to try and hatch it will be her first I hope she stays set because I really don't have room in the incubator they're due on the 19th.

Its day 6, and i candled this morning (a little early i know) and out of 34 eggs 4 had blood rings, 4 were clear and one was just looking a bit iffy. So far so good for the other 25.

We have some chicken eggs and some quail eggs in the bator that went in on the night of the 24th. So far the chicken eggs are on track candle wise, i think one is a dud but am giving it a few more days first

this is so exciting! and yes, i'm aware that there is a difference between the incubation of the chickens and the quail, but we'll see if this works our or not!

Lockdown is the 1st. Since I have miss counted in the past the brooder box is in the house, tomorrow I'll get the waterer and feeder ready. You never know when you might get an early bird.

I had a hacth on Holloween and my 7 yeard old granddaughter spent the night with us to watch the hatch. The bator and brooder box are in a office/guest bedroom, my grandughter slept next to the bator and removed chicks all night. If you ask what she learned that night she will tell you. "It's hard work hatching out of an egg and I'm not allowed to help" Gotta love them.

We just put eggs in this morning. 8 Russian Orloff eggs. I checked on some buttercups I just got yesterday and a hen layed an egg so I put it in the bator too.

2 eggs are about 2 weeks, so we are thinking those probably won't do anything. Hope we can get some to hatch though.

Hope everyone elses hatches are going well
