Decrow surgery

Don't know what you mean by 'decrow'. Some people caponise but that is normally done at a younger age. It doesn't necessarily stop crowing but will make them infertile. Any surgery to remove the crow will put the cockeral at risk and is just wrong. You can use a no crow collar but the effectiveness of these are varied. IMO if you have a cockeral let him be a cockeral. If your not allowed one or don't want the crowing, rehome him.
you do know caponisingt is extremely invasive, requires you to burst an air sack and comes extremely close to their aorta while decrowing surgery is not far off from a tracheostomy which is sometimes done to people even without anesthesia. I think what freaks you out is that caponising has been normalized to you while decrowing is new and scary. A lot of good roosters go to their death due to pesky neighbors and I say if a small surgery gives them a shot at a happy life with hens and a person that cares about them then go for it.

Any surgery is invasive. And caponising or decrowing I believe is unnecessary. I did say that I'm not for it in anyway. Let a rooster be a rooster. Or don't have one.

Decrowing doesnt stop a rooster from being a rooster. It stops them from being dead. Do you also believe dogs and cats shouldnt be neutered, cause that comes with risk?
The world can be tough and sometimes you have to pick the lesser of two evils. Dont shame people for doing the best they can for their animals, there are places in the world where you need million dollar properties or live hours away from work to be able to legally keep a rooster and hundreds of thousands of good birds die due to that. Not to mention hens often really love their roosters and so many go their whole lives without.

I don't understand your point

I’ve read that decrowing surgery is really dangerous, and while caponizing (removal of the testes) is relatively safe with an experienced operator, there’s hardly anyone in the US who does it. It’s best done when the chick weighs 1-2 lbs.

Sadly, your options are slim if you can’t keep him: find someone willing to take him, or have him for dinner.

Just... Look up the process. Caponising is routine but in no way minor surgery.

Will a rooster be able to reproduce if you caponize him?
Are you serious? Caponizing = surgical removal of both testicles. No testicles = no sperm = no reproducing.

Edited to add:
Mean that in the nicest way possible. Lately I can't tell if people are joking or serious.
