It is quite a bit easier to gut them before you hang them though ( and better for eating purposes )....not meaning to critisize .

Good job on putting meat in the freezer....my mother makes great jerky just with store bought mixes and her dehydrater if you want to save money...do it yourself !

Congratulations! I, too, questioned the lack of field gutting, but perhaps everyone does it differently.

Also, I have the greatest (bar none) jerky recipe on earth if you would like it.

Down here in the south, we don't usually gut in the field. There are some that do, but most of the time we take the kill home and gut it or to the processor (which is called the Deer Cooler here) to have it done.

Nice...I got one Saturday after thanksgiving. You made a good shot! We field dress ours and process it ourselves but she's a nice deer. Congrats!
