I dont watch my humidity either, same here i just keep water in the bottom.

Yea if th eeggs dries on it, you will have to wrap a warm cloth around it and leave it in the bator so it softens the egg. but leave a space where it can breath.

well this morning that same chick was on his belly with the egg stuck dry as a bone on his back. the whole half of the shell. his eye was glued shut too. so i took him to the kitchen sink and got warm water and dribbled it into the shell like he was taking a bath in his egg tub! After a few minutes the shell slid off. then i moistened his eye and it opened. he seems to be doing fine. i had to wipe him down with a wet cotton ball to get the rest of the dried up goop off him, hopefully he will make it. I will keep ya all posted.

I've had chicks that hatched the same way and did as you did with the warm water and most did fine

I found that in one hatch I didn't have enough water in each of the areas where water goes in the incubator and the temp spiked a degree for a few hours so I had a few stuck with the gooey stuff.

I have one of these eggs rocking and rolling around the bator. I can hear the chick peeping inside it so loud...will he make it out?

I am sad...my daughter just called me at work and told me the little guy that was stuck did not make it...I am so bummed. I thought I was saving him and now I think I may have contributed to his demise....

I know, but I feel bad because I thought I was doing so well with having the erama's even hatch because they have such a high mortality rate. Well, hopefully the other 4 will give me babies. My temp keeps spiking to 102 though...is it OK to have it run high or is it better to run lower. I looked in once during the hatch and it was 99.8 ????

I will be moving the ducks to another home for a few months. I'm using them to train another Boarder Collie to herd ducks. So I won't be able to collect eggs. The few that I will get before they leave are already promised to Shay. Sorry

Ok,thanks...

As for your temp going over 100 ,Does your bator, have a vent plug, if so take it out when that happens and let it drop a little, but make shore the humidity stays up,hopefuly it will be Ok ,please keep letting us know how things are going

OK. I know this has nothing at all to do with poultry, but.... We have a 4-Her that is looking for a potbelly Pig. Baby prefered, but adult also considered. Female is also prefered. This piggie would be very spoiled. Thanks guys
