Deformed?

We have 10 babies born yesterday to a wild hen that I captured for safekeeping. Yesterday, one seemed distressed and died shortly after, other 9 appear healthy. The last egg hatched a couple of hours ago and the membrane is attached to the baby by something going in (or coming out of) his butt. Any ideas on what it is? What to do about it?

Unless you see its a real problem for the peep just leave it, it will seperate by itself soon.

Thanks for the advice. I have him kind of swaddled in my t-shirt and the string thing thinned out and is more like a thread. he's peeping very normally though.

This just means that his/her yolk wasn't completely absorbed into it's body yet...
