Delaware and Buckeye size. Where can I get them?

Quote:
Oh no, they actually have a wonderful life up until the time they are butchered. We day range our birds on grass, they go out every day and run around and chase bugs and snakes and mice. They sit in the cool shade, or bask in the warm sun, and have a very nice time while they're with us. But I just won't have cockerels ganging up and raping pullets, that just won't do. So if they get too randy, off they go.

We cook them all sorts of ways, most of the ways others have mentioned here: slow cooker, casserole meat, even sometimes baked/roasted.

Oh, I was joking about the cocks! Ours have the same wonderful life, except we don't kill them so young ( unless they look tasty, or available).

Don't cocks always act like that? Where do you think chicks come from?

Im getting some delawares from natures hatchery in illinois. I think they have buckeyes too....if not, try murray mcmurray or mypetchicken.

Delawares from most hatcheries make poor meat birds. I know mypetchicken just dropships from some hatchery. I just saw a Del cock and hens at the feedstore today that I know came from Ideal. My Isaac sure outshines that rooster I saw, in size, color, every way. If you can get the size on them like Isaac has, you'd have some great dual purpose types for processing. A good breeder of Delawares who has chosen them for body type is a better bet for you.

meyer hatchery in OH definitely has buckeyes as day old chicks. They ship very quickly, and have excellent, healthy birds. I am lucky to have them just a few miles down the road, and I always pick up from them, but I did recommend them to a friend in NC and her chicks arrived the next day after they sent her the e-mail her chicks were shipped. She received 25 LIVE healthy chicks, and only lost one that just didnt thrive, before they were butchered. Excellent hatchery, I highly recommend.
