Lavern again with the hatchery birds One on the right might be one I will try

I think this is Laverne again near the fence

This is her again from the top you might be able to tell the extra black on her back

Peekaboo not think this one is Shirley

Ill get a few pics tomorrow of the male birds for consideration.

I do believe tomorrow is day 21 of my Kathy line Delaware eggs from Finnfur. Have been getting the nursery (dining room) ready for the bubs. Will post pictures when I have them.

I Like Shirley, try to find a Cock to use with bright yellow legs and wide with a nice open tail if you plan to use the hatchery girls. I had a very hard time improving pinched tails in my old line of Delawares that I worked with for several years. Kathy's line has its issues (although it is truly in its infancy) but type is the most important thing and they have that going on :)

Most definitely! I've had news that 1 chick over at my partner's house is hatched. The place I have hatching my batch said that they'd let me know how it's going on Sunday. We had power outages on Wednesday night, and Terry (my partner in the Delawares) said they lost power. So, not sure what his hatch will consist of. I hadn't heard anything from the hatchery that has my eggs.

Type :I like Lavern from the side and Shirley from the top . Cant you find a Kathyinmo Cock [ Lenny or Squiggy ] to go with those hens.

Ok here are the 2 boys we have at the moment Kathy's line has a lot of barring still

The non Kathy bird is drinking in this one

Here they are standing together Kathys on the Right

You can see the really yellow legs on this guy here

Different angle here you can see lots of color on the Non cathys wing feathers

Here they reversed positions and you can see the barring on the Kathy boy

Tail on the non kathy bird is narrow a bit and he doesnt seem to have the sickle feathers could be the boys are picking on each other a bit

Another shot of the tails Kathys is much more full and broad but I think if I match the non Kathy with a wide tailed hen it might improve some.

Kathys by himself

Another shot of the 2 I think there is a fair amount of difference in the combs

So pick them apart. I was going to hatch from both over the year and see what I got.

From what I can see the Kathy Cock has better body type - and at least you know the genetic background of what you have to work with.
Not that it won't be a work in progress but your odds of success are much better . IMHO
