Delawares from kathyinmo

I like the incubator, and all of the extra room. It looks easy to clean.

I like what I have, but it is jammed full with no flexibility.
Thanks for the Kudos but the idea came from Wekiva - she has one homemade from freezer.
Kits are reasonable and freezers are usually close to free at the dumps etc.
One son is making another control center that monitors temp/humidity at 3 levels.
And will adjust humidity according to setting.
my other son is making a window for the front.
Eggs for payment LOL
Its holding temp real steady but need to readjust down 1 degree.
So far we happy with it .

I had to get a photo of my hen in her denim apron.

The apron gets messed up ... it's all messed up in this photo ... and I'm sure she hates it, and she would hate me if I also didn't bring treats. The mating wound down her side is doing well and the apron does protect it, so I'm leaving it on for a while longer.

Here is a photo of all three. I couldn't get the hens to pose.

They look great!!! I think I sold you the wrong roo though........... :)

Yes - I would say he's being well kept LOL- he looks a lot like our Ernie

He is a wide bird in general. He has a SUPER wide tail. It doesn't come to a point at all, though who knows how it might change after a proper molt. I'll try to post front and rear views later. We're letting our other flock free-range lately, and he has sprinted out the door a couple times to mate one of our laying hens. He is very fast for a wide guy. He and Dad have a cute relationship.

Gloria Jean & Zanna, I'm glad that you have some chicks. Those hatches aren't so bad. Believe me, try to hatch Dorkings!

Tom, I don't know a thing about incubators, but hope yours works for you.

Leslie, hubba hubba on that male! He has way better color than the male that I'm using presently.

30 5th generation Del chicks here, so far. More hatching soon.

Day 22, 7 of 13 hatched, leaving the others in the hatcher for now. 3 are pipped and still alive but I don't think they will make it out, 1 pipped and died, the last 2 no pip yet. Just put the 7 newly hatched Dels as well as 8 Marans under a New Hampshire broody. She has only been broody for a week but took to them all immediately. She has been in a bad spot under some hay bales in an open fronted barn but I built a fortress around her and once she wants to bring them out will put them all in their own pen. Always prepared to take the chicks back if things don't work out but so far I have been having good luck this year with first time broodies.

Interested to see if development will be quicker being raised by a broody. My ones in the brooder are getting farther behind my Marans and New Hampshires hatched at the same time.

Tom, weren't you on day 22 yesterday? Hoping you had good hatch results!
