I've been in TX so haven't been able to post. DD's computer won't let me type anything in. It's old and not well maintained. Def, needs to be cleaned up.

Anyhow, hope all is well,

TTFN,

Rancher

Glad you nice hatch!!!

Still no chick sounds or pipping or zipping in the broody box (that I could see when I took a super quick look!) ... but I also forgot to write down the day I gave the hen the eggs, so I'm not losing hope yet.

Well as long as she's sitting tight I wouldn't give up - Hang in there

Speaking of Broody's I think B51 is going broody on me - she has been on same nest 3 times in two days and just wood ones under there today.
thinking about trying it again and thinking about taking ones out of the incubator and let her try or is that a NO NO. ?

Not a no no. if you can watch closely and she gives up, you can put them back in the incubator.

Latest hatch in progress, day 21 this evening. Three of my nicest hens eggs have hatched, YAY!!!!!!! This is the fourth hatch and the first time any from this hen have hatched, can't tell you how happy I am!!!!!!!!

Five Del. chicks from my last hatch did not make it. Had an incident with a skunk at night hasselling the broody from outside the barricade the night I put them under her. I am guessing she panicked and stomped all over 8 chicks and they were either dead or in very bad shape in the morning. Kicking myself for giving her so many (15 total), learned a hard lesson. She's a big New Hampshire Hen but I won't do that again. Moved her and the living chicks to their new pad from the hay bale nesting area. The skunk has met his maker and Mom is doing fantastic with her remaining 5 BCM and 2 Dels. I let her out for the first time yesterday to free-range with them. She loved being able to take them exploring!

Good news in progress.
Glad you got the STINKER . I despise a skunk. With 4 dogs you can understand why LOL
Hope Mother NH and adopts continue well.

Kim - be glad to loan you Foam-a-bator - It has a 90% hatch rate in spite of its problems
