Thanks! The delawares are nice sturdy birds in our cold weather too. Our roo is a cuckoo marans. He is a good boy--very much a gentleman. Gives them his treats, keeps good watch, rounds everyone up at night. LOL

No, the Delaware is a cross between a Barred Rock and a New Hampshire.
Delawares were developed originally in the 1940's by crossing a Barred Rock and a New Hampshire, but they have been a stand-alone breed for many years now. I just thought I'd clarify, for those wondering, that you can't get a Delaware by doing this cross yourself.
Here's the large version of my avatar. My cockerel Pete and some of his ladies.
Wow, coopist,
Those are some beautiful birds! I have 10 delaware baby chicks in the brooder that are only 12 days old. I hope just one of them turns out to be as beautiful as yours.
Thanks, Yogiman. I'm pretty pleased with where they are right now, but I'm always working to improve the flock. I've got a breeding program I'm working on.

You can be proud of them. I am embarking on a breeding program for some pure bred stock myself. But I am a novice at it. I would very much like to stay in contact with you regarding your progress and possibly tutoring me.
You really have done a remarkable job with them. I don't think I have ever seen a more beautiful flock of delies.
