Delawares! What do YOU think? Im not impressed....at all

Quote:
How obvious should the black be on the neck feathers? I have a few that are very light, and several that are very dark. I don't think any of them have tails that match the standard.

If you look at the second bird in Ella's post, you can see about what the neck barring should look like in a female; likewise for the tail color. There is a huge difference in the coloring of the two birds she posted. The top bird has hashed-up looking neck markings (typical of a cross to production reds) and very poor, washed-out tail color. The second bird has good, clearly-barred neck markings and good black in the tail, with just white edges to the feathers. You couldn't ask for a much better demonstration of poor vs. good Delaware female coloring. The top bird is very poor. The second bird is pretty darn good.

Edited for clarity.

Sure, I'll add both of you to the list. Sorry about that. When I try to send a PM, it tells me it can't be saved. I thought that meant the message went through, and it just couldn't be saved, but apparently that means that it didn't go through. I'll have to clean out my PMs.
