I just want to send out a big thank you to csibb! I received 25 eggs from her today, and only 2 were cracked...VERY slightly. I'm even going to put those 2 in the bator tomorrow, too. Surely with this many I'll be able to hatch a very nice flock. THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH, CSIBB!

Oh darn it!!

And here I thought I had them packed so good.. Sorry Shellyb1969! Call me tomorrow if you get a chance.

We will see how I do on miss Jaynes eggs on Monday!! And sorry for spelling Shelleyb1969 wrong in my last post. I can't type so I'm heading to bed..

Good Night All!

I ended up with a Delaware roo mix (I say mix because he had a pea comb) in my rainbow layers from MM.

He was mean and NOISY... and loved to do his roo thing.

I would have loved to keep him, but he was just too much.

I'm so glad I found this forum on Delawares. I'm looking to start a flock of Delawares; does anyone know of a breeder in the New England area. I plan to purchase this spring from Sand Hill, however I'd like to get started sooner if possible. I may even try hatching out some eggs, not sure as I have never done that. Any information would be greatly appreciated!

You probably already know this, but just in case you don't, Sand Hill orders need to be booked months in advance.

Hatching eggs could be a great idea if you need to get stock from a breeder across the country.

Yes I know that they will resume their orders in the spring. I would like to find a local breeder if possible. I'll consider hatching eggs; I just don't know how succesful I will be at that.

I miss-read what you wrote seriousbill. I do know that I have to order in advanced from Sand Hill. That I intend to do soon. I was hoping to purchase a few before that from a breeder and get more information about this bird.

Hi all I have some dellies and they should start laying sometime in December or January, then I will hatch out some eggs and try and get the "Ideal" our of them. I will be a breeder of Dellies for sure, they are such sweet birds. I just love them.
