So the rule is now "one can shoot ugly creatures"?
I admit, they aren't pretty up close, and I am sure they smell, but without them we'd all be smelling rotten carrion and looking at a whole lot worse then a hunched up bird with a red face (hmm, sounds kind of like some chickens).
As a side, when I was a kid my parents convinced me that if I lay on the ground really still the vultures would come down. I must have been there for half an hour before my parents told me the truth
I haven't had the heart to try that on my own kids, but I'm sure they would have done the same thing as me
To OP: I understand that when we think our beloved pets are in danger that it's hard to not rush off to do whatever we think is necessary to protect them. I'm sure when something like this arises again you will be more cautious about what actions to take, we all make mistakes and hope for better from ourselves the next time.
