Ok, so I dont always use it, but I have been more and more since it seemed people wanted it. And now this happens.

I ordered some eggs from someone on here. They mailed them on Monday, April 19th, and promptly sent me a delivery confirmation number. While, I normally dont track em, so I was just waitng. Wednesday, no eggs. Thursday no eggs. Friday, I checked them number and it showed they had been accepted at the senders PO in WI at 9:30 am on Monday the 19th. Friday, no eggs, Sat., no eggs. On friday or saturday, the seller contacted his PO. He gave them the DC number, and wanted them to track them. They told him they couldnt, and that the number was only to confirm the box had been delivered, not to track it.

So monday, no eggs. Tue, notta. I go to MY PO Tuesday. I too ask about the DC number, she runs it, still only says the same thing, that they were recieved for shipping on the 19th. I ask her why. if it went to another PO from the one it was shipped from, it was not scanned. She told me, get this, they are not SUPPOSED to scan them. Only the PO they leave from, and the one they go to are supposed to scan them. So today it has been 9 mailing days (not counting sunday) and I still dont have my eggs, and NO ONE CAN FIND THEM despite a "tracking" number. My postmistress has now called 3 different POs trying to find them for me, They're vanished, and no one can track them because they dont need to scan them enroute!

I'm disgusted. From this point on I will NOT include DC on any of my auctions. If a buyer wants DC, they will need to notifty me and pay the $.75 cause I am not wasting anymore money on this USPS SCAM!

Same thing just happened to me - Delivery Confirmation overrides the need to scan at every stop - so you're stuck sitting around waiting for eggs that end up arriving late. UGH.

I feel your pain.

I just use DC as a seller (and I incorporate it into the shipping cost paid by the customer) because I have had too many customers claim that they never recieved thier items when they did. I'm not talking about egg buyers, they are usually honest, but I sell other items on Ebay, and you wouldn't believe the scams people try. There was one that contacted me 8 weeks after an auction and said they never got thier item, and they wanted thier money back. So I checked the DC, it had been delivered to the customer. I told the customer this info and gave them the Dc number. Later I got a cryptic apology "sorry for all". But yeah, DC doesn't track the package, just tells you if it was delivered or not.

I use that too and had one buyer said she did not get the item which I had proof that she accepted the package. I got a email from her a simple "Sorry". I was glad I did! People are at their worst! If they pay for the DC, I will pay for it and will NOT give them the number. If they buy the DC, then I am required to give them the number.

It is up to you if you as a buyer or customer that you want the DC on your order.

Hi! That's terrible! I hope the box shows up soon.
Mine have been getting scanned same as usual.
This is the info from 2 boxes that shipped Mon.:

Unfortunately, I think a *Delivery Confirmation* number is necessary as protection for buyer and seller.

Delivery Confirmation is just that, a confirmation of delivery, it is not a tracking number.

If you use eBay or take Paypal you have to use it to have seller protection.

Sorry your eggs got lost.............

If it is only meant to be a "confirmation" for delivery, then why does the the USPS site say that you can TRACK your packages, when obviously you can not? I think I'd rather take my chances trusting the customers not to lie and say they never got it, then keep supporting this USPS scam.

Same here. For me it is a CYA kind of thing. I also had a buyer try to tell me she hadn't received something I had sent. I was so glad I was able to prove that it had been delivered, otherwise I might have had to refund the money. Like fancbrd4me02, the buyer gave some convoluted story about how she had gone to pick it up at the wrong post office or something....

Delivery confirmation is free if you print your postage online........ you also get a discount on the postage too!
