depression and poultry

We don't really get pop tarts here. A better diet sounds all well and good but it is so expensive here. I guess a vege garden is in order! Thanks for your help I also.suffer from social anxiety so its hard to get out. I'm not a massive person but could lose a few pounds. Thanks again!!
I hestate to tell anyone they should lose weight because I'm underweight and always trying to gain but I understand that being overweight has an effect on health.

~~I understand about the cost. There are very inexpensive ways to eat well. One must be creative though as well as lose some of one's negative views of some foods.
Fresh vegetables should be inexpensive in the southern hemisphere now. Buying things in season and avoiding out of season stuff and things that must travel a long way will assure fresher and more nutritious things at usually a lower cost.
Meat cuts and fish that are out of favor are inexpensive and are usually more nutritious than the more expensive ones.
With seafood, for example, squid is very cheap (at least in the US), is an excellent source of protein and well prepared is delicious.
Organ meats like liver, heart and kidney are very cheap and the most nutritious parts of the animal.
With a diet of real food, one doesn't have to eat nearly as much to not only maintain but improve one's health and weight.
Even eating out, one can save money by avoiding fast food but preparing food at home is usually much cheaper.

Another thing to think about is sun. Make sure you get enough sunshine. I live in Ohio and I take vitamin D in winter to make up for the lack of sunshine. Lack of sunshine can cause depression.

Depression is a serious illness and one to take very serious but I use my animals as my copping system to get through each day and I find it hard to believe in such a beautiful area as New Zealand and the pet's you have a person could be depressed but even I got rock fever after 3 years in Hawaii ............

You have your hobby right there in front of you I believe this is why you are here,,, Hay study all about them animals you have and then get back on here and give others help and maybe helping others will help you in some way but you will need to read and study all about their health and mannerisms breeding hatching total life cycle ...........

Just a suggestion nobody can tell you what to do .....

I used to have very bad depression.. I was hospitalised several times from attempted suicides. It started as a teenager, and would come back for no reason over the years.

My life was bad, or so I thought, with disability, family problem, and much more.

I can tell you truthfully that what will drive off depression is....

eat healthy
get out and exorcise, walk, jog, run, EVERY DAY
Think about yourself and stop thinking about what others think about you.

Your body and mind will recover, and as you get stronger you will feel better faster and faster, like a growing snowball.

The worst thing to do is stay at home, watch TV, talk about you depression with people (linger on it), eat lots of crappy junk food.

You will get better if you shake yourself up and force yourself to do stuff you don't want to do. Just do it. Give it a go for a few months. You only have one life... so don't waste it.

Depression is a real thing, its disgusting and no one who never had it can understand what it is like.

Getting chickens of pets or hobbies will not help. It may even make it worse if things go wrong, and you may give up the hobby and that will make you feel worse!

I wish you good luck and strength to recover. Go for it, now and don't allow you mind to make excuses. Jump in the deep and and make lifestyle changes, and change the way you think..

It is SOOO hard at first, the the rewards will come and then keep coming, and you will get a great feeling from it....and the depression will keep shrinking and eventually go away.

Good luck with your life.......and when you start to feel better get some cute chicks to raise.......

Hello :frow Welcome to BYC and Happy Holidays! Best wishes to you and hope for your recovery, you sound like you unfortunately have multiple problems to deal with. One other thing, if you are seeing multiple doctors, do you have some sort of advocate checking or are the doctors in communication with each other, so far as prescribed medications etc go and possible side effects that might worsen some of the other problems you are dealing with?
