Depression or what?

Well actually, I'm a big fan of buttermilk. Buttermilk (or any kind of milk really) will slow the effects of cocci infection by coating intestinal lining, slowing the damage caused by the cocci. It's a temporary "fix" until Corid can be given. Buttermilk is a much better probiotic than yogurt.

@Faux I used to live in southeast Georgia, Camden county just south of Kingsland for almost 35 years until I moved to Jax 7 years ago.
Shoot I got it wrong
But I was close...it's white stuff too.

Good grief, don't feel bad. Some of these old fashion remedies really do work. I'm all for them as long as I can understand why they work. For example, pine tar for wound treatment in animals sounds perfectly ghastly, but it's been working well for two thousand years, and farmers still use it. It heals pine trees, so it does heal wounds, too, as it's antibacterial and anti-inflammatory as well as working to seal up wounds against bacterial contamination.

So I have an open mind as long as I know why it works.

did you ever have any babies die from the heat?

did you ever have any babies die from the heat?
Never. When we had a drought with wildfires around the area, smoke filled air and ash with temps in the low 100's...I never lost any chicks nor grown chickens to the heat.
I DID lose quite a few chicks, pullets and cockerals to snakes, a couple to hawks.

I went and got the corid and mixed it into the water like yall told me too, and when I went out there, she wasnt moving at all, but then when she saw me she got a little more chipper and started eating and drinking, so I replaced her water. I really think she might just be lonely.. but ima run corid in her system before I get her another friend just to be safe.

Also this was an interesting find too... My coops are well ventilated btw, but when I was cleaning out the chicks coop yesterday I kept noticing these little bits of ripped paper, not sure what it was too, but I think my 3 year old niece maybe was putting it in there, perhaps the silkie ate that paper or something and choked or it blocked her system..
