Loved the update! I, too, have been dealing with bumblefoot woes. A hen I took in from a friend who wanted to start fresh with all this year's pullets of course developed bumblefoot in both feet a month after I took her. One foot was an easy fix, but her other one has been a nightmare. I went in from the bottom and no kernels. All the swelling was on top, so I knew that was where the bumble was but I was reluctant to cut through live tissue. Ouch! So I've been waiting for a scab to appear up top and as of yesterday morning one is forming, so later today will probably surgery day. Again. Ugh. At least it's just the one girl. I can't imagine ALL my birds getting it at once!
