Derperella, the (weird) Faverolles, & Friends

Here's one of my favorites, Derpitized!

BYC Classical Masterpieces!

She herpaderps in beauty, like the night
Of cloudless coops and starry skies,
And all that's best of dark and bright
Meets in her crooked aspect and her eyes;
Thus mellow'd to that derpy light
5
Which Heaven to gaudy day denies.

One lawnchair the more, one treat the less,
Had half impair'd the nameless grace
Which waves in every fluffy tress
Or softly lightens o'er her face,
10
Where thoughts serenely silly express
How pure, how dear their staring-place.

And on that beak and o'er that comb
So soft, so calm, yet eloquent,
The stares that win, the beards that glow,
15
But tell of days in goodness spent,—
A mind at peace with all below,
A heart whose love is innocent.

Edited to avoid copyright police: This is straight up Lord Byron, I just messed with it.

i have the original barbara story in pdf if anyone wants it, and Kathy(mrschickendad) has a barbaraette to follow in barbaras footsteps
Oh my gosh! I just found out about Barbara. Has anyone else ever seen this thread? While the weather is nasty up a Derp's house, maybe we can get our 'chicken novel' fix at Barb's house.

The Barbara Cornicles does not have a happy ending. But they move on and life continues, as it always does.

Bravo!!

Lord Byron is probably rolling in his grave at being Derped lol...Shakespeare too though...don't we make them proud!

I finally had to take one of the three chicks away from my derpy Brownie. She kept running off and leaving it behind. The first day she took her babies out of the box she didnt stop, not once. I stayed with her the entire day to make sure and those poor little babies could hardly keep up with her. I knew they needed a rest under mama but Brownie never sat for moment, always digging or dust bathing or moving for some reason. This little one I finally had to give him to a broody still hatching on the nest. She has three and one pipping. Im so grateful that she took this little one without issue, just accepted it under her wing. It turned out perfect. I still have to keep an eye on Brownie and the other three, sometimes having to locate a different peeper who got separated from my on the go Brownie. I was so right, she makes a better big sister than a mama.

This little one is doing fine and Brownie, well she doesnt even miss the one. The other three are a little older and definitely bigger so they can keep up with her.
I hatched another Faverolle mix(fifth toes each foot!) this evening in my shirt. Things were getting a little too hectic in the coop and even the nest box. I have two hens fighting over these babies so there is a lot of in and out movement from that box. I was afraid it would be stepped on and maybe killed. I gave it back to the mama before it was totally fluffed. Tomorrow I get to she the results.

Time will tell if it is a derpy or not.
