He's lovely!!!

We paid for a "mutt". WE bought a Neo X Cane Corso last year. He's the best dog! Simply put, we can't afford a full blood neo right now and I couldn't pass up this face.........

ETA - I think "responsible breeder" has one basic definition, you take care about what happens to the life you create. Regardless of the value anyone else puts on that life. It doesn't matter if the dog is purebred or a mix, if you take the time, money and effort to do the best for that animal as humanly possible.

I do, as do many other good breeders of multipurpose farm dogs.

In the case of farm collies, it poses special hurdles such as being sure that the drives behind the work are compatible in each parent - I wouldn't want a prey drive based herding instinct crossed into my dominance based lines, for instance. Results have been rewarding, thus far. My current up-and-coming is the result of breeding an unregistered rough collie to a farmcollie mutt who followed a missionary family up here from Peru. He's sharp and quick to train, started moving goats for me at 10 weeks, trees raccoons whenever they make the mistake of trespassing, stays on my five acres despite knowing how to get over the e-fence when I tell him to, and announces all visitors calmly and aloofly. Reports on the rest of his littermates are similar; his breeder and I are not surprised in the least. I can't wait to do his health testing to see how he compares in the hip and genetic dept. to his father and half-sister. I don't care if he doesn't have papers or a pedigree going back to the turn of the last century, he does what he's supposed to do and I hope he passes it on as reliably as his parents.

Pedigree and papers are a joke anyways....
They dont make a good dog... not at all.

They don't MAKE a good dog, but you can have a good dog that is papered... I had two yellow labs, both were AKC, only one was registered, but both were wonderful, smart dogs.
