desperate!

Oh yeah....before I asked my nurse friend to help out...I did find a vet that would see her. My concern was that it was about a 40 minute drive and I wasn't sure if that would have stressed her or not. It was a $70 office visit, then a charge for the procedure (which they couldn't quote me for until they saw her), and if need be, euthanization would have been around $100. After watching draining videos on you tube over and over....I mentioned it to the nurse and asked if she would try to help. I told her I was so afraid of hurting Lovie, that if she could hsow me how to use the needle, I would try myself (because the appointment wasn't until Saturday! I didn't think Lovie had that much time.....) So I went to tractor supply and bought a 60ml syringe and needles for it. I just cant describe enough how amazing that little bit of poking turned out to be!!
One very happy chicken mama,

This is fantastic! So glad to hear that Lovie and you are doing better! I would keep her in and continue to monitor if the fluid builds back up again. It is possible that the fluid may never build up again, but there is that chance. It is possible that the fluid build up is a secondary cause of an underlying issue. I hope that is not the case. At least now she is springing back and being herself again. So glad we were able to help! Keep us posted in how Lovie is doing! Again, so glad to hear this news!!!

So glad to hear that! I would keep her in until you're certain she is alright. As for the eggs. I usually throw them out for 2 weeks after the last dose of antibiotics. Sometimes it's recommended that they're thrown out longer (most often I actually only see 10 days recommended) but it all depends on teh antibiotic.

Thanks again for the information and checking in on us :) I'm hoping to get a picture of her up. I should have done a before and after, but was so focused on helping her I didn't think about it.....words cant describe the difference in her !

Check out the black "heart" feather on her neck!!
