I would first like to say that you are a VERY NICE LADY but you have to be clear on what you really want to do before deciding or commiting. You know I read this board
.
I have the TRUE standard doubletufted rumpless araucana rooster Jackson son of show bird Captain Jack Sparrow who is 1 year and 4 months that doesn't crow but I guess you are looking elsewhere as I told you that 2 weeks ago. He makes a hiccup sneeze squeaky miniature dog noise instead. He does it often but it isn't that loud at all. All his brothers and dad crow.
I am not sure if I am parting with him. I do sell him it would have to be to someone who really truly wanted him, not ...I want him, ...I want him not. Maybe someone who wants to promote this rare breed. My birds are all pets and family members and mean a great deal to me. It reminds me of dating someone that you think is just OK until someone else comes along. Jackson will not play second fiddle. This is not meant to be hurtful at all just my HONEST feelings on the matter. Thank you and keep up the good work with your lovely silkies and have a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! You can email me thanks.
Oh I know you have a lovely roo. I'd love to have as my 1 and only. I'd take him in a NY Minute if you should decide to part with him. He'd be treated royally.
I have two Chabo (Japanese bantam) roos, and they hardly ever crow. I've had them for a couple months, and I think I've heard one of them crow twice. And it was not loud.
Might want to look into that breed if you don't mind a banty instead of a full-size roo. Of course, banties aren't much help if you want to breed standard hens!
RE: quiet roos: i have a silkie pair. the supposed male has never crowed. they do crrrr and coo. especially when separated. they are approximately 10 months though no eggs have been layed. when i mention this people always "correct" me, saying that silkies definetely crow.
