Hi
I have a 3yr old Maran who I thought had vent gleet so I brought her in to clean her up and start treating her. I quickly realized it was much worse...I thought it was a prolapse but I am now thinking its a lash egg.
She had this "ball" of hardness hanging out of her vent. It was covered in poo but once I soaked her it almost looked red? I have soaked her 3 days now and putting Prep H on her hoping it would come off. Last night in her soak I got brave and pulled on it a little and suck my finger in her vent to see if I could feel anything. Felt nothing but the "end" of this thing finally appeared which was stuck to part of her body, the inside of her vent. The end is white and soft and I was able to get a tiny piece off but the rest would not come. There are small "string" like pieces holding 2 larger pieces together for lack of better words. She was getting stressed so I dried her to calm her and put more Prep H and locked her in for the night.
I am not sure what to do....I know a lash egg doesnt have the best outcome but I thought they could live happily until the infection finally takes them over? How do I get this off? Do I just give up and cull? She is happy, eating, drinking, talking etc so I hate to just cull when she is willing to live.
