Any way to keep cats out of the yard? I live in a suburban area, and these 2 keep hanging around constantly. I wouldn't mind, but my 9 ounce tortoise is out in his run during the day.

Fences don't keep them out neither does spraying them with a hose.
A dog would work. I have a mean 20lb cat and unless she's outside all the neighborhood cats come over. When I had a dog they stayed away.

Hmm one of the things that works for a friend's coyote problem is to kill one and let the carcass stay there for a while. I don't know why this works, I'd think that it would attract them (the smell) but it does work.

If nothing else: lead poisoning, administered from a gun, at a distance

Get a live trap from TSC. Trap them and then call Animal Control. The cat may be some kids favorite pet so I don't condone kill them. It not the cat's fault that they have idiots for owners. The cats just doing what cats do - hunt. If the owner has to pay to get the cat back they will be more careful next time. If they don't come forward the cat will be rehomed somewhere else or put down. Either way it's better than poison .
