Detox Your House and Cosmetics! What do you do?

On a totally off topic, we've been busting our butts to get our city house ready for sale which, has been quite the feat, because my husband is a "collector", or as I say, a hoarder. :lau we had our Realtor over yesterday to look at the house, best Realtor I've ever met. Very down to earth, real, honest, and extremely helpful. and this morning he called and said he was bringing a family to look at it at 6. we weren't expecting so soon since he hadn't even listed it on the market yet!! we took our 4 kids and 2 dogs and walked down to the park. Had to leave the chickens...I'm sure they understood LOL well I guess they loved it and are letting the Realtor know tonight or tomorrow if they're going to make an offer. Yay!! Country living is so close I can taste it :drool

I have so many Dreams for Thia country house. I want a lot more chickens...only have 6. I'm deciding on layer breeds and meat breeds or just mix them all together! I've done relentless research on both laying flocks and meat flocks right down to the butchering, processing and cooking.
I THINK I want Hereford hogs to raise and eventually breed for pork and maybe a little income. I've also done my share of research but not enough that I feel comfortable yet.
I want a Jersey heifer calf to raise up, AF or breed so I can have my family milk cow and either bring her bull up for beef or sell her heifer for income. also, lots and lots of research.
The problem is, I'm scared even thinking about caring for these large animals. I'm not scared for myself, but scared for my kids. I plan on having the sturdiest fencing imaginable, possibly electric fencing if there's no way my kids can reach it...and I'm like a mama haulk with my kids. we have a fully fenced in yard in the city and my kids hate that I won't let them play outside by themselves. sorry, but way too many creeps out there!!! I feel more relaxed about people in the country but feel more paranoid about animals!!
Not too concerned with the cow, more so the hog. oh, the horror stories!!!
But my dreams go far and wide. like the garden as far as the eye can see! To feed our family, feed our animals, and feed those in need.
I'm sure with any new venture nerves play a role. The unknowing...
To keep this post true I'd also like to add that I plan to build clothes lines, install solar panels and have rain buckets for yards...lol

We have a clothes line, just bought a solar fence charger, and we have 2 rain barrels but need rain gutters. I am building a chicken coop and chicks were shipped Monday. The next structure i build will be a goat shed.

Love that! Thank you!!
Next spring I'm going to add geese and mule foot hogs to my mix. I was torn between the guinea and mule foot. After talking to the breeders of each it would seem my terrain is better suited to the mule foot. I might try a couple of feeder steers--but eventually I want to go with Red Poll cattle. Unfortunately, I need more freezer space:he and a couple more refrigerators or a walkin. :barnie:oops:
