Detox Your House and Cosmetics! What do you do?

Well you know DMSO it is a horse liniment mostly. I dont use it a lot, but lets say I have a stretched meniscus or a pulled shoulder or a back twinge (that causes a lot of pain). Then I want to use my arnica balm, but I want something to carry it in deeper. That is what the DMSO does. Balm goes on the skin then the DMSO on top.

Ruins my manicure every time.

I generally make colby and also american, which is a derivative of colby. I've also made Butterkase--but that didn't quite turn out as desired (way too sharp) and I've made pepper jack and smoked Gouda. The recipe for pepper jack was way too pepper for most and though I like the Gouda, others weren't fans.... Again too sharp. I have to learn the various bacteria's involved and how they affect the end product. Yea I also make Mozzarella and

Love vanilla beans and so forth but amazed at your cheese work...:bowI like making the yogurt but these are just early stages that i am mentioning, I know. You are so fortunate to have raw milk. I do use a very nice non homogenized local milk from a local dairy that we are fortunate to have here.

Ever made Gjetost cheese? good use for leftover whey I think...

I'll have to try this. I waste a lot of wey when making colby and I know there are other uses--but haven't gotten there yet.

Whey can be so useful , and part of these ideas we share is about using everything, and I think it is a lot of fun. Whey can be used for fermenting sauerkraut and other veggies or even as a plant fertilizer. I did make gjetost once and it reduced perfectly.

I should add, what a remarkable additive whey would be to fermented feed for our chickens! It all good!

Oooh the soap! That is one area I have not entered. I did render beef tallow last fall for the first time to make winter suet for the chickens. They loved it! and it was a process! So is soap and sounds great! My lavender is blooming right now.

This will be my first time making soap...nervous! I will certainly let everyone know how it turns out!

My mom soaks tougher cuts of meat in whey and says it acts like s meat tenderizer!

I grow a garden I use my goat poop to fertilize it, I make laundry soap, bar soap. I recycle almost everything. I use a wood stove to heat instead of electric. I don't use cosmetics, bug killers. I stay away from processed foods ,I make breads , I don't eat much meat. I also sell some of my plants. I would love to learn to make cheese. Thanks for reading my post and keep being green
