OK, well I guess I'm not the one to just stay quiet about things... I'm still on board with the idea of this thread and with detoxing life, but still have questions.
Anyways, as much as I don't like taking meds... simple fact is it's the lesser of the evils FOR ME, in many instances.
No amount of homeopathy or herbs is going to fix my bipolar disorder or my diabetes.
At what point do you finally figure out resistance is futile?
Oh ya, things like cinnamon CAN help stabilize blood sugar. And this or that CAN reduce swelling. Bananas are good for people with hypertension, btw... But at some point with all the C and other supplements, your basically a walking supplement trash can. How many can you really comfortably take? I HATE pills! And then to find out so many are bunk anyways...

And the C... often give you 500 or more % of the daily recommended value. Why, because your body doesn't process it all. Why not just include what your body will use?
Besides why supplement instead of just eating the real food that you would get it from... as we were created to do? Who has control over how these supplements are grown or processed or shipped even since so many of us are all about save the world? Organic is an overrated word IMHO... dog poop is organic, as are things like arsenic and cockroaches.
Vinegar is also said to be a good weed killer. For me, I worry about changing the PH of my soil too much and effecting things I don't want effected. So I pull them, but completely understand the need for some to round up on occasion. It's hard to argue with something that works sooo well with very little noticeable ill side effects, WHEN used correctly.
Yes, I think natural things are awesome but can also be just as toxic as other stuff.
As far as acv for deodorant... I almost rather kill myself!

Quite seriously I HATE the smell of vinegar. My husband is Korean and so thinks all things pickled are great.

And yes, I know sweat is ONE way for toxins to leave the body. But they can leave from somewhere other than my pits!

I just can't stand sweaty pits. That's WHY I use antiperspirant instead of deodorant. Besides what, people who don't work up a sweat just retain their toxins until they die? Seriously, I don't mean to come off all rude.. so please don't take it that way. I am hear to learn and these ARE the thoughts that cross my mind.
EB21, you are one of the most inspirational... how many years have been gracing the Earth to get where you are today in your understanding and processes? You don't really have to tell.

We all start somewhere, and you are pretty far along! Thanks for sharing SOOO much stuff.
Oh, how you mention the salts and others do have alumi in them... is that a natural compound? We have discovered that even honey labeled as "raw" has often been heated to a certain point but at a lower temperature as to maintain the raw label. That's just wrong that sooo many products can be labeled deceptively, just like the deodorant you mentioned.
I did also think about the suggestion of.. was it palm oil or coconut oil as antiperspirant.. And how that would happen/work. Best I could figure was essentially by clogging the pores in the pit? But seems like it would stain your clothes and make for some nice soft pits. Throw me on the BBQ!
And I don't know... might as well mention... anybody planned their own burial yet? I have thought about cremation since nobody ever visits the dead at the cemetery anyways. Plus with earthquakes and floods who's to say you will stay buried. Oh but wait, they will move whole burial grounds for new housing development, only to be discovered years later that some graves were never moved and now homeowners are finding remains. I don't know all the processes involved in making the dead bury ready. But inbalming fluids seem out of the whole loop with ashes to ashes and dust to dust. I don't want all kinds of chemical preservers pumped into me after I worked hard to become 1 with the Earth! Dump me under the apple tree, or wherever it's convenient. So what if I become vulture food, that's the circle of life. Of course, I know for many it will be about what their family wants since they after all are dead. There is ONE cemetery I know of (probably more) that actually DO participate in natural burials. Their price was equal or more than the common burial, but not cheaper. And does anyone know (off the top of your head, I know I have internet) if they use any kind of chemicals with cremation. It's my understanding that you can't just dump ashes as fertilizer like on a single plant. My family knows that for me this body is just a body and once I'm gone, I no longer reside in it and it has nothing of ME left. My mother on the other hand doesn't accept that. But it's not her body! I will bury her per her request when the time comes. But she already knows I won't be physically visiting her grave (where her birth family is buried) which is more than 12 hour drive from my house. I liked my grandma and can't even tell you when was the last time I visited her dead bones. Ugh, I sound like such a _______. Anyways, I'm not all focused on death, just curious because we do plan ahead... and I don't want to be treated in my death the opposite of how I lived... as natural as possible, within my limits. Oh and why have someone keep my ashes around to be accidentally eaten by the dog or stolen out of storage.. ditch them! Sorry if it's too heavy a topic or if I'm way off base from keeping in line with the thread.
Oh... I now know how to spell DEODORANT after this post!!

It isn't deoderant.
Vinegar works OK for me ... as in, the smell disappears after half an hour LOL ... I don't really like it either, but I'm not sensitized enough to it to detect it after that. You probably would if you really hate it
I tried to use 4 Theives Vinegar instead, but that stunk!!
It also does slow down the sweating ... like I said its a very mild astringent.
(I'm glad you said that about deodorant/deoderant, I just learned the same thing!

)
I think the detox thing is a balance ... some people are different, and it is a matter of how much do you want to ... actually everyone has a buildup of toxins, just some more than others. How much are you exposed to, how good does your metabolism clear it out, what problems are you genetically disposed to (or not) etc. How long is a piece of string? I plan on my piece of string being over 100 years long so I do everything I can.
4 Theives vinegar is much like theives oil. It comes from the same story, you know, 4 theives, france, bubonic plague, raiding houses with this secret cure to keep them safe.
Its unclear actually from the two stories whether they used the vinegar or the oils! My theory is they used both, although no story says this, but it would be the best way.
The vinegar is simply the same herbs, and a few others, steeped in vinegar.
No offense, we all have what works for us and what doesn't! My gripe is shampoo ... I use various horrible commercial paraben containing shampoos because I can't find or make something that doesn't make me feel like I've been tarred and feathered!
How many years Lol

ah, you're going to be surprised probably, everyone is ... I'm 23.
Yes I guess I have developed a bit more knowledge than most 23-year olds ... I know just enough to know I don't know anywhere near enough, and probably never will, but that doesn't stop me from trying!
Salt for weeds ... well I've tried it ... I use it around the paths between my raised bed gardens. But the problem is, the two main weed species on the drive, namely Kikuyu grass (running stuff) and Onehunga weed (low growing stuff that looks innocent but has nasty prickles hidden for bare feet) are both almost totally immune to salt!
I wouldn't worry too much about changing your soil PH with vinegar. As this natural acid is rapidly broken down. It will be neutralized before it has a chance to build up. But unfortunately my nemesis (AKA natural superweed Kikuyu) is also immune to vinegar, borax, copper sulfate, baking soda, soap ...
Have you ever heard of the new organic herbicide they're making out of pine essential oil? I'm thinking of it for garden areas. It sounds like it works better than roundup! (Quicker, and kills seeds too). The drawback is the finished product you apply is about 25% pure essential oil. So, even though the oil they use is cheap bulk oil, still too expensive to use on the drive! (I live in the middle of a huge pine forest though, and I have a still ... I'm wondering ...)
For supplements, I a) use diet, b), grow my own herbs whenever possible, c) when I do use a supplement, I buy bulk powder, research its bio-availability, and if it is good, make capsules, if not, make liposome. Look it up, it is a lipid-based vehicle for supplements that are not naturally as bioavailable. Liposomal vitamin C, for instance.
I also check all the interactions, and synergies with the foods they would normally be in, and take a supplement with at least some of that food, and/or several other components of the whole food. For instance, I don't take just resveratrol, I take liposomal resveratrol with quercetin and a glass of red wine.
I also use colloidal silver, copper, even a little colloidal gold. The colloids are a recent addition, and it must be said I haven't had any colds this winter. I normally would because I only go to town once a month, I don't get exposed to cold viruses normally, so during winter I pick one up on a trip to town and usually get it harder than most. But this winter nothing, despite walking past several sniffing children, which would normally do the job

. I suspect the colloidal silver to be responsible, but can't be certain yet.
I don't use Homeopathic remedies, I guess I am the odd one out here. I looked into them and came to the conclusion that the good studies showed placebo type results. There were studies that showed results in animals, and I have friends who swear by worming their sheep with a homeopathic remedy, but when I tried it and did fecal egg counts before and after it did nothing for mine. I suspect their sheep are low in worms anyway.
I had some homeopathic remedies myself which I could never say for sure if they helped or not. I used the last of the arnica on a goat with a broken leg ... I don't know if it helped her or the golden rod and anti-inflammatory tablets did, but she needed it more than me.
Now I'm perfectly happy to be convinced otherwise ... I'm not ruling it out, I never rule anything out. Actually I'm looking for more recent studies on the subject. But at this stage, I use herbal medicine instead, which I have studied extensively and has always worked well for me.
My ambition is to be completely self sufficient ... although running the tractor and generator, and paying the land rates, could be an issue!
