I would love to have a list of substances that are harmful for chickens. I'd have never guessed about the benzocaine. There is a styptic powder on the market containing benzocaine that is specifically labeled for birds, so I would have assumed it was safe for chickens.

See? No way I could have known, especially if I'd seen that. Maybe someone needs to contact the company that makes that product and tell them this story. I've never seen it or I would do it myself.

There's a huge hole here. No perfect 4-syllable crow. Suede's crow is low, deep, and unusual. Zane's has three syllables and is still a bit high-pitched, him being only six months old yet. I miss his voice and his kind eyes.​

Cyn, are you able to have another roo besides Zane? If so might I suggest you pick another little guy from the chicks? It may be another generation of Hawkeye's offspring to carry his "identifiable" genes?

I have two of Amanda's eggs and two of Lexie's eggs in the bator due on April 23. I can keep as many as two more roosters with the size laying flock I will have. I am seriously considering doing that, too, as well as keeping the pullets. So, as long as I don't get more than two cockerels from these eggs, I'll keep them all. I know for certain that Amanda's are Hawkeye's and I'm fairly certain that Lexie's are, since the Barred Rock girls still consider Zane an irritation and are not submitting to him. Amanda is particularly hostile to him still and he's afraid of her, LOL.

That being said, none of them are Hawkeye, with his experiences and memories that made him who he was.
