Maybe you should write a book Cyn, no joking.

Chickeners need more comprehensive info than what seems to be available in most books out there now, at least better than the ones I've read.

You guys, I'm too lazy to write a book, LOL. Far smarter, more informed people than I have already beaten me to it anyway. And I only know who laid what because I spent so much time with the girls when they started to lay that I got familiar with the colors and shapes of their eggs. I daresay it will be much harder as the flock numbers increase. I do wish there was a chapter in some book somewhere that said, DO NOT PUT THESE THINGS ON YOUR CHICKEN BECAUSE THEY WILL KILL HIM That would have saved Hawkeye's life. That's what is lacking.

I agree, in simple terms, not long studies. Simple names of substances we use as meds on ourselves. And even pet meds, like the one I used, full of the same stuff that is in VetRx for Poultry, just with that extra thing that was the tragic ingredient I'd never heard about. The lidocaine in Bactine never hurt them, but benzocaine was fatal.
The thing is that some things in small amts are okay, but in larger amts are fatal, like Tea Tree Oil, if ingested can be fatal, or full strength, aromatic as it is, can be harmful, but a few drops in mineral oil is beneficial for things like scaly leg mites. It also is a natural product with antibacterial and antifungal properties, so many would think it was the perfect thing to use around the birds. This is the type information that is needed, in simple terms.
