I believe my hen has wryneck. He neck is sunken in and her head is stuck up and bobbing back and fourth. I’m holding her and massaging her neck which seems to help keep the bobbing less aggressive as well keep her head down. I’m very worried, please help!

Vitamin E 400iu is the treatment. Give one capsule directly into her beak once a day until her condition improves. Then continue for a few more days beyond that. Selenium is needed for proper absorption, so your can give it with egg or a sliver off a selenium tablet.

Do you mix the capsule with food at all? She is unable to eat/drink on her own so we are currently syringe feeding her a paste. It has been quite difficult and we are not totally sure how much or how often to feed her. One recommendation we found was 2-3 hour intervals. Also how much egg should we use?

No. Do not mix the pill into anything. She needs the full dose. You may not be aware of it, but there is a straight chute from the mouth to the crop and anything put into the mouth will automatically slide down the chute. Chickens do not need to chew their food for this reason.

One chicken will require about half a cup of food per day and even more water. When a chicken is too sick and weak to eat on their own, tubing is recommended. It's no different than syringing food, only far more easy and efficient. If you can obtain a tubing kit from your vet for a few dollars, they or we at BYC will show you how to do it safely.
