I had let the 9 week olds into the run and let Nutmeg my 1 yr old out in the yard. I was laying in the yard when Nutmeg came over to say HI. Well she did more than say hi. She pecked my diamond earring and pulled it out. I freaked out, all I could think is what in the world am I going to tell my husband. "Sorry honey, Nutmeg ate my earring". I grabbed her thinking how am I going to get this out of her mouth, did she swallow it already. Poor thing I was practically choking her and I look down and there is my earring. Thank god!! Then I was wondering where is the back, no big deal I can always get another one, but if she swallowed it I guess it won't hurt thinking about all the things chickens eat and as I keep digging around in the grass there is the back. Lesson learned - don't lay in the grass with the chickens or don't wear my earring out if I am going to lay in the grass! I also don;t think Nutmeg will be pecking at my ear anytime soon!
