Hello BYC friends!
My lil 1.5 yr old Sapphire Gem has been having super watery diarrhea for about a week. I’ve noticed slightly labored breathing (not open beak, however), and sometimes she holds her wings just slightly away from her body, especially on the roost. I have scoured the chicken health handbooks and I can’t figure out what this could be. Any advice??
Thank you so much!!
(These pics were taken this morning when I went to check her crop, which was empty and normal. Also, she didn’t like the flash so she curved her neck, it’s not normally curved like that haha!)

she may be running a temperature, fighting off a bacterial infection - that poo looks like clostridium perfringens, and holding the wings out is her way of trying to cool down. Clostridium is very common, though little discussed, and birds may come through it on their own. Have a look at the article I linked to here https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/clostridium-perfringens-and-necrotic-enteritis.1510162/
and see if you think this may be what she's got, or can rule it out.
Make sure she has plenty of clean water available meanwhile, so she's doesn't dehydrate from the diarrhea.
