dont meant to be harsh but it looks like the floss may be needed to tie off the neck.

poor little bugger

probably 60% of chicks i have assisted have died while assisting or need to be culled. I have lost count of how many i have flushed in two parts

i sort of like this hatch in the phillippines. bernies instructions are to throw out stinkers, pull dry chicks each day after day 21, toss on day 24. be excited for 50% dont worry if none hatch. we can do it again.
DONT listen to OZ ..... YET anyways! your not a mass hatcher like he is. you need to see what's going on before you make a decision.

This is my last one! And the eggs were 10-14 days old FOUND at the PO. So out of 18 we had 6 make it to lock down. 2 hatched, 1 died in shell and this is our last guy.

You should tie off whatever is there. Get as close the belly as possible. Not sure how to describe the cord... Sally?
OK, I am going in! I will be back... hopefully not in tears, ummm because like I said I am kinda a farm girl and there are songs written about how they don't cry.

Yes, I agree with Sally. Shouldn't she tie it off before she takes it out of the shell though? That way, it will ensure that the chick's navel won't tear or bleed.
Not sure how you do that cochin, how can you tie off in the shell?

The beginnings of veining. hard to see but it really is there! Looks like a little spider. I know that top egg iis rather pourous and I was quite surprised to see progress.

These are Austrolorps, Orpingtons RIR's and Barred Rocks. Straight run. I have two Crested Polish/Buff orpingtons as well because...why not? total of 26. I only candled 10 or so and all were like this. I will wait a few more days and do all of them.

remember i am the guy to add stuff in between the clever people

listen to coch and sassy, i mean sally.
