do you like your chick heater thinger?  I have heard people don't like them

It's a great idea they came up with. But honest opinion? Meh. I had to put it on a thermostat because it was heating the ground beneath it to 120 degrees. Far cry from the 'safe to touch' they claim. I had an email in to Brinsea to send it back on warranty, but it's been over 24 hours with no reply. More overpriced junk. The chicks prefer the ceramic heat emitter I have hanging.

recap anyone???

ok this time I am out!  Gotta lock up and clean up!  Be back later on!

No foaming just peeping her mind "get me out, get me out!" I'm going to wait then if it won't hurt, I was just worried about leaving her with a ruptured yolk but if its ok then I'm gonna wait til her belly isn't distended. Thanks for calming me down Sally

Bitteroot, how many watts is your emitter? I have gone through three of them for my coop, and the filament or whatever the heater element is just doesn't last, and they cost at least twice as much as the infrareds. I would like to change out the 250W IR bulb over my brooder with an emitter so the chicks can get a good night's sleep. I tried sleeping on the couch next to the brooder and it was WAY to bright to think about sleeping.

this was griffin one of 3 reds we had at one point ... he was turken not showgirl like the other one ... but pretty to me ... he was in quarantine here right after we adopted him
