Mine went into lockdown today - anyone else with me there ?

Doug has some little cuties he shared pictures of, including an assisted hatch that seems to be absorbing and healing well .. and also seems to be needing to start a second chicken house

Tony and myself had shipped eggs issues but toast and jelly had a great shipment !!!

and join in the chatting fun - - mikkles ( and yes there is nothing wrong with getting a still air if one was just happening to think about getting a second incubator - that is the group consensus so far)

our miss sally has an incubator full of eggs still - for some reason

how in the world do they hatched all piled up there miss sally ?

how does one keep eggs staggered in the bator for hatching without messsing up others that are still growing ???

Still have 4 for over night and tomorrow. Tomorrow is actually hatch day! Yea right.

So I just thought I was done hatching for a while...seems I have a broody.

Of course she wouldn't go broody last week when I left a huge mess of eggs for someone to sit on...she waited until she had 2 eggs. And I just froze a couple dozen. Will mark her eggs tomorrow after I give her some more eggs from the other pen.

Omgeez. I had 17 eggs make it to lockdown. Today I came home seriously disappointed I had to be gone this afternoon.... 15 chicks and TWO zipping now. All hatched!!! Holy chicks! And all I wanted was 2! I'll post a pic in a bit. I have 16 dark birds and one golden nugget.

Renne!!!!! THATS AWESOME !!!!! I will hope I run into images as I am reading!!! BTW I only wanted 2 too! BAwahamhhahhhahha

Hey guys!

For my art final, I'm doing a series of drawings of embryonic development on blown out goose eggs. I plan to draw embryos at 0 days, 5 days, 10 days, 15 days, and 20 days. Here's my first one, it's of a 15 day old embryo. I understand that it may not be accurate, so please critique the embryo if you can. I tried to make the fluff look more wet, but it didn't work out.I w

I candled tonight...3 out of 12 possibly 4 from ventura auction eggs. and 5 out of 12 from Nevada eggs!! sooooo EGGcited!!

Hi guys, I'm having some computer problems. My laptop's charger packed up and I'm nowhere near a supplier (I'm on a Mac), so I'm going to have to hang on until Tuesday when we're in Cape Town and buy one from the store there. I'm borrowing a friend's charger now, but she's going to need it back tomorrow... So I'm not going to be on much over the next few days and if I am it will be on DH's iPad, which is NOT user-friendly, not to me anyway. So I'm not going to be very talkative! LOL It takes me forever to string a sentence together on that thing. But I will pop in now and then and update, if I can.

Get on with what you gotta do sumi, I know you must be extremely busy getting all ready.... I cant wait for the new chapter! Its gonna be AMAZING!

Check the last 4 eggs that didn't hatch yesterday. Don't think any of these are going to make it. One I think is shrinked wrapped. Almost the whole egg is air cell at an angle. One looks like it was knocked around too much. Maybe drowned. Sort of floating in there. The other 2 all full but nothing going on.

One of the chicks that hatched last night has a blood ball on it's butt. Not to sure what to think of it.

Here is a pic of that one chick. Hopefully you can see what I mean.

you need to put it on a papertowel so its not dragging its butt, separate from others in a cup or something, don't over or under heat though.

do you have a better image of the mass? I cant tell you to tie it off with dental floss dipped in betadine until I can see that its not a round open ball yet.

This looks like a yolk sac and it looks like it has already broken. I'd recommend tying it off. What do you think Sally?
