Quote: Makes sense! and yup that's why I am searching.... in the nest and in the wild chicks would have access to all of that shtuff. still searching University stuff.
My chicks eat the shells too, and I've never given it a second thought. I let them pile up in there, and quick pull them when I hit a lull and no one's actively hatching.

What up with you? its a rainy dreary day here
Bright sunshine here.

I have a goose with 10 eggs left after I candled(threw three out) two days ago thats supposed to hatch anytime. I thought yesterday, Hopefully today.

I set some old chicken, duck and goose eggs in the soda machine last night and the temps went to 129 in the first few minutes. I realized what I did and they went back down and have been holding right at 100 every time I checked. I can raise and lower the humidity with bigger or smaller pans of water. I didnt have the temp that high for long enough to even warm the eggs. Im going to put in good eggs this week.

I have two chickens sitting on 14 eggs each.

IM going to do a bunch of candling and culling this week and next week the fun starts. I have three bators that are going to start the hatch process. I have 5 turkey eggs that looked good at last candling. They were swimming everywhere.

Im getting ready to move a whole bunch of chicks outside this week. The ones going outside are 2 to 3 weeks and have a lot of feathers. Im moving them to an enclosure with plenty of heat lights hanging if they need to get warm and they also have plenty of room to move around too. I was over at dads and he puts his outside right away with a light. Heck, I guess Ive been to worried about the cold. He never has any problems as long as he has a good light for them. Plus its not getting as cold anymore.
