UPDATE ON MY FIRST BROODY HATCH---
Cappas eggs are due to hatch today or tomorrow. When I checked yesterday there were no pips yet, but today could be a different story. I haven't checked yet. On Friday, I go away to the beach for a week, leaving Cappa to care for her chicks on her own. But that shouldn't be too hard, the coop is over 200 square feet with only 4 birds in it, plenty of food, water, and shelter to go around. Will the be alright? Also, my mallard duck, Joey, has now gone broody too. I would like to get some eggs for her to hatch, is that ok? I just hope Cappas eggs hatch for now!!! I have no experience with broodies but the people I got her from said her parents got a perfect hatch their very first try!

CANCEL THAT UPDATE-
I just went outside to check on Cappa, and, low-and-behold, THERE SAT A NEWLY HATCHED FLUFFY LITTLE CHICK!!!! Right next to Cappa! She even let me pick it up! It's a little fluffy brown/striped chick (probably ameraucana) and it's SO PRECIOUS! Then I put it back next to her and it scooted back under her feathers. I don't know how many have hatched or if that's the only one so far, but OMG IM SO HAPPY

I've had one chick hatch so far and is this one noisy chick! Even before he popped his cap he started peeping. He is still wet and still peeping louder than ever. Sheesh! Can't wait for this tropical storm to blow on past so I can take this noisy chickie out to the broody! :lau

Strange, Cappas chick has been completely opposite! He's been totally quiet without a single peep unless I pick him up from under Cappa! I'm thinking of either naming him Walnut, Almond, or Java....

I have been busy the past several days, and have not had time to read threads.
Broody #1 hatched her first baby Tuesday morning. A black body with a RIR head. Number 2 looks like a red sexlink, and #3 came out last evening. It is yellow. She should have one more chick. Unfortunately, a hen has learned that she can fly, and is flying over the rafters, and into the broody room. I have 3 extra eggs in the nest now. Poor chicks.
I opened all of the incubator eggs. All scrambled. TY post office!
YAY and booooooooooooooo

congrats on the fluffy butts everyone!

Button quail are sold, and tons of chickens went bye bye!
Now to figure out a price for three part brahma pullets!! ugggggg and where to advertise!
oh and I decided that I will take the two eggs from the broody serama, now three of them decide to sit on three eggs! so tonight at lock up they are all getting the boot from that pen entirely! and the eggs back into the bator! enough is enough!
