oh I AM NOT liking that cat 3DDDDDDDDDDDDDDd
I gave him the evil glare. He ignored it. o.o He just kept staring... not directly at the chick, but right past her. You could tell what he was thinking though.

I am starting to think maybe Hope is a pure white leghorn... I know her father was a white leghorn, but there were so many rhode island reds and white leghorn hens that I could never be sure which one is the mother! Her egg shell was kind of white.... ???

Here is another pure white leghorn chick:

And here is Hope:

They look almost like the same chick!

Here is what a mix between a white leghorn and a rhode island red that I thought Hope would be:

This one is three weeks. ^ Hope is only two weeks, but still has a different shape more similar to the white leghorn chick.
AAAWW Hope is growing so fast! Sure is a pretty bird

So what do you think?? I think she might be a white leghorn. All I know is no matter what breed she is, my cat wants so terribly bad to eat her. I was sitting with her at the computer and the cat was staring at her like a crazed psychopath. LOL She is going to stay in her brooder now. Or at least in my room with the door closed. My cat has killed my sister's two pet budgies before. He pounced up at their hanging cage and knocked it to the floor. He was scaring me. O.O

I'm guessing she's a white leghorn :) and oh no that's not a good thing for a cat to do.. My cat does that to all my chicks, but it's the dogs I really gotta watch out for o.o I've lost 3 ducklings an almost a chicken due to dogs :hmm

Awwww she's that big already? She's so cute!

I need everyone's advice. I'm planning on starting a new incubation next week (using the amazing new incubator that Mrs. Sally and Silver sent me-- thank y'all so much!!) and I want to know what I should try to hatch? I could hatch some more chickens, or I was thinking about some ducks or quail? And I was thinking about maybe adding some shipped eggs into my batch? Does anyone have any advice on what I should hatch, or any fertile eggs I could buy to hatch?

What can you get locally? Local vs shipped my votes local all the way if you want a good hatch. If you're trying to get a specific breed then of course I'd go whatever route you need to go to get em but dont expect great rates. You north or south in ga?

Research, research, research, like Sally does

See what you can find locally, like MCF suggested and read through these to see what you need to do. I've done a little research into hatching ducks and quail and found some interesting sites that you can start with:

Here's some good info on hatching quail:

http://www.quails-in-essex.co.uk/tips_on_hatching_quail_eggs.html

And an interesting study or storing quail eggs before incubation and the effects of storing too long:

http://www.lrrd.org/lrrd22/1/roma22002.htm

For ducks... I found lots of different suggestions, but have a look here:

https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/491013/goose-incubation-hatching-guide-completed

And this is very interesting:

Read a few more sites about hatching ducks before you start, I found many different suggestions reg humidity specifically and at the moment I don't really know what the ideal is. I'll have to read more, or even better. Talk to an experienced hatcher.
