I am finally getting eggs from my Australorp!!! I should be able to shake an egg for you on Saturday. It will be 3 days old then. I think that was the rough age you wanted them to be.

SERAMA Hatch update~

I took the one out thats been chirping since early and its really loud, I made the x and HOLY CRAP that shell is a rock!! NEVER had a shell like that, so I had to candle the others! She has six or more internal pipped, two little beaks arent moving, so I will assume we lost them, but I will keep them in, those are the ones that I marked had internally pipped before lockdown. now silence DARTNIT!

SOOOOOOO
I didnt even count them!
Where I am at with them....
I candled and tapped them and the ones that were chirping and pipped internally I made a tiny hole in the shell, CORRECTION, I TRIED to make a tiny whole, their shells as thick as they are only made for a huge chip to come off, so I saw how tight the inner membranes were and opened them up on the air cell end, being careful to stay away from the lower air cell line.... They are all still doing great, but I dont know how this will end up at all....

I DID TRY SOMETHING NEW WITH THE ASSIST THIS TIME!

I AM USING bacitrim antibotic ointment on a Q-tip ("ear BUD" as sumi would say) to wet membranes INSTEAD of warm water. WHY? Because a friend does this and it makes more sense as it helps fight infection, AND stays damp/oily!

WISH US LUCK because we sure need it.... its going to be a looooonnnggg night for me.

Good Luck!

BTW, when do you usually start hearing chirping?

And my humidity is dropping again, do I need to adjust quickly or will it creep back up as the chicks hit day 20?
