Quote: My chicks used to jump on Mom's back and catch a ride when she started walking. I tried and tried to get a pic of that, but they wouldn't play along! I loved letting my broodies hatch chicks. Watching them interact and learn... Mom says something or makes a certain sound and the chicks respond immediately. I could watch them for hours.

WHOOP it looks like one of my chickens is finally laying!!!! And looks like I got an FCM! The other 4 light green ones are my mallard duck's... How can I tell which of my chickens laid that beautiful brown egg? It's either Moe or Aqua...

Hay Sparky, if I remember right... One of your gals looked like an Araunaca. It would not be her egg as they lay pastel colors. (green, blue, and some pink). Ihope its your girls I remember seeing. If so she was a black color. Is that right?

It's perfect for a first egg! Check and see the next time you hear an egg song!

Sally, you probably did already, but crank up the humidity. They should be O.K.

I've been caught out by early hatchers too. Once I went to turn one last time before lockdown and found a pip! The chick hatched out o.k. Small eggs hatch out earlier than LF eggs. My MIL's bantams eggs hatched after only 16 days, but they were ridiculously tiny. I don't know if you can slow a fan down like that. I think you should experiment outside the incubator first. Good luck, hey!
WOW

I'd keep my son out of school if our roads looked that bad. The teachers told us it's o.k. if he missed school due to the weather. I'm actually surprised your school bus still ran in spite of that conditions.
Well the roads in the morning were fine. The weather here can be sunny and literally beautiful one minute and then be hailing or gusting the next.

He stopped when he matured. But we taught him to come to us when we made a kinda clicking sound. So when we were looking for him or wanted him to come for a treat or a cuddle we did that. Our friends wouldn't believe us when we told him our chicken will come running when we call him, so we had a lot of fun with that!
Cute! :D

YES! She makes a clucking sound when eating and they come out from under her to join... she was teaching them bad habits of picking out cracked corn...I was trying to feed the lil ones chick started and give mama treats, but she was showing them what was good..so I had to take away the treats so they only eat the starter...they did eat a lil bit of oatmeal that had buttermilk n flax seed ..I hope it doesn't hurt them..once I saw them eating it I took it away

Quote: Humidity is up to 75 now, not a single external pip so if I am guessing correctly Harmony is going to VERY hard to deal with : (

I should have known to keep humidity higher down there this time of year and that cold we had the stove CRANKING! It ran 25-35 percent and didnt have that 40-45 flux at times... ugggg I wont give up hope yet though as its only day 19, I just pray that humidity can get at them.

Thanks for well wishes, I just cant beat this cold yet.
