I'm waiting to hear from or rental agent now. He said we can go view the house today and I'm anxious to see the available space outside. The requirements for rental houses are quite a list, so it's almost a given that the house itself would be fine. I'm more interested in the garden!

I'm curious to see how the older eggs do. It's always nice to have records of people's experiences when you tell people what to do, or not. Though there are some experiments, like hatching eggs after deworming, that I'll rather skip! Talking about deworming, we ate the eggs. I had to deworm my flock with an ostrich dewormer as it was the only one available where I lived and we ate the eggs afterwards. Didn't have any ill effects on us and we didn't have any worm problems either   You can also cook them and feed them back to the hens if you want.

How funny! That's exciting about the New rental. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that there is room for lots of romping!

It's so funny because my mom in law was here helping me unload and set up my kitchen an hour before dark during the move when I realized that I had to set up the coop for the chickens. I went tearing outside to set it up before I was to go pick up my chickens. She laughed to my husband and said "To most women, the kitchen is the most important thing to get together first, she must love those chickens."

Quote: awwwww I was so upset when we moved and had to give my chickens to the farmer for slaughter : ( I had no choice, no one would help me get the coop out and bring it up on the property and then when the day came we had 2 foot of snow and there was no way we could get it from down the hill.

I had all bantams, I swore I wouldnt get anymore of the little ones since I had such bad luck with them, but I think that is a mistake as these LF eat and poo ALOT!!!

The hygrometer is accurate. I believe I've solved the problem though!

The reason I was using the small dishes was they were the only things I could think of to fit around the light box. I did some brainstorming, and discovered that the lid from a carton of eggs almost fit, and I could squeeze it. The humidity sits at 65-70% Although, the window does develop a lot of condensate on it.

Is 101.5* going to be too high during lockdown? I'm pretty sure it is, but I want to make sure. Due to the wooden lid warping a bit when the 'bator is running at 20% humidity, it stays between 99 and 100 in the water wiggler, however with the high humidity, it's moved back into place and the temperature came up a bit.

this last hatch I was hitting 102 several times. Ideally you want 99.5 and after the chicks hatch the 101.5 might be too hot for them as I had several panting at 102. Could you add another vent hole or 2 in the top that could be covered to get the humidity up and then uncovered to let out heat. I love your bator and can't wait to see it in action.
