"Keep it simple, silly" Will try.... uggg Dad made me into such a perfectionist, always trying to please him or get my "ars" beat!

You can still be a perfectionist in your poultry endeavors, but be a perfectionist to standards you develop... Not to someone else's standards.

Wishing lil silkie girl was broody! she is too young a May girl... "Romeo & Juliet" lol so sweet and docile great for my kids!

I'm a complete chicken 'hacker' and am only recently taking things a little more seriously, but we've incubated tonnes of our own chickens (mutts - mostly RIR/Australorp mix) but we found that we were having very poor hatches with completely matured chicks dying before pipping - sooooooooo we stopped putting water in the incubator - no water at all. I think living in FL we must have adequate humidity. We now have very high hatch rates. :). Ummmmmmm saying all of that, I've just purchased eggs for the very first time and am now PANICKING about a process I've done countless times

We incubated and hatched eggs at 55-60% with temperature heaven knows what, since the thermometer wasn't working properly. If we could do it, you can do it. Don't worry!

My "gut" says leave that water, so I'll leave it unless it goes over 55%... I should have rcvd the new hygrometer by end of week. Raining yet here PA... I think this is the rain from Isaac.

I have not been reading in a while. Glad you got your eggs but sorry they were so shaken. I wish I could have read this before I got my eggs. so much information. I am on Day 12 and I have one egg with an aircell on the side. I had even set mine in the bator in the egg carton with the big end up. On day 5 or 6 after reading I took them out and set them on the screen. should have stuck with my original plan and left them in the carton. Not sure if it will make it.

This was probably a case of too much humidity making the membrane to rubbery for the chick to break through. :( Good job on finding your problem and resolving it!

Is the cell still detached and "floating" through the egg as your turn it? Go ahead and try putting it back upright if so. :) It's probably not too late.
