Sumi, I think you said you looked up call duck hatching, do you remember the site? I just set shipped snowy call eggs after a crazy ebay bidding war so i have 2 atrikes against me...calls & shipped eggs. You hatch ducks, what kind of bator do u use and what humidity do u do for incubation and lockdown? Just curious

Wow Oz! That's quite the collection of eggs! I hope you have a great hatch.

Sorry that you didn't get your eggs from Dick Horstman. I know you were looking forward to those.

Are you taking the shipped eggs to the Philippines to hatch?

I looked at a few different sites as well as some threads here and got so many different opinions on humidity I decided to incubate at 45-50% until lockdown when I bumped it to 65-70%. I'm using a Brinsea Octogen 20 Eco with an auto turner. So far the hatch was good. I set 9 eggs and I have 8 ducklings and 1 egg left that pipped yesterday. It's busy-busy in there, so it should hatch sometime today.

There is some good info on incubating and hatching ducks here: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/594278/thread-formerly-known-as-hatch-day-is-today

It's a long thread, so if you want specific info use "search this thread" it will save you a lot of time! Here are some on Call ducks specifically:

Some questions about hatching call ducks

Are Call Ducks difficult to hatch??

Call Duck incubation period

Good luck with the hatch!

Yes, sorry I have night class. This thread does move fast. The internal pip was on the egg I took a picture of. It's staggered and they were supposed to go into lockdown tomorrow and hatch day should be Friday. The ones in cartons are only on day 9

, set to hatch the following Friday. Should I attempt to turn them during lockdown until I get an external pip? Honestly if I get anything out of the second batch I will be shocked. They were over 10 days when I set them due to shipping problems. You can see where my bitterness towards shipping comes from. A bunch of malpositioned chicks and old eggs has been our first and only experience.
You should turn the day 9 eggs when you can. At least twice a day. I'm thinking since they are in cartons you could slip something under the carton (if you haven't already) and tilt the carton with the eggs from side to side. That should go quick.

Good luck with the second hatch!

I just received word from Dick Horstman that he could not ship today.

A devastating blow to "getting the flock out of here, part 2 - the mother lode"

No Heritage RIR

No Silver Dorkings
No Blue Orpingtons

Honestly, I dont think I will ever get those RIR.
