Next time I add eggs if I have enough I can do a test, I will do it with my own eggs not shipped for sure. We will track them. Or maybe I can buy eggs local to sell OE or EE or something.

Either way the major issue with turning results in inadequate turning less than 45 degrees. I even broke out the carpenters level to make sure my blocks were adequate. But I am weird and have OCD and more the more experienced hatchers we become the more we tend to nit pick our/perfect hatches,

but this is all good as I think we will always learn new stuff and it makes for interesting conversation. Look at the whole assisting issue we had with antibiotic ointments! We all learned a lot. I learned to stay clear of tylenol too! We all learn from each other. I will forever be reading and searching out any clinical study I can find online. Its just the way I am, I need studies and proof to back up most of my decisions but in the end we all need to use our better judgment too!
What works for one person may not work for the next. But in this case I think we need to test it! I would love if it proves higher rates as well as no malposition's! isn't that our common goal?

Yes, and I may try rolling them for my next hatch. I do get malpositioned chicks every so often (especially with shipped eggs), but I'm not convinced that flipping the eggs would have caused them.

When I first started incubating eggs, I had no idea how complex the process really was. I have learned so much over the years through research and experience. Hatching eggs is amazing.

Update: all 9 ducklings hatched

My first 100% hatch in an incubator. Their mom's coming to pick them up in 30mins and I'm a little bit sad... I've grown quite fond of them, especially the first born! Here's the first 8:

Congratulations on the 100% hatch! The ducklings are very cute and it's very easy to get attached to them. The little 1 week old runner duckling that I purchased 2 days ago is completely imprinted on me. I could never give him up and I've only had him for 2 days.

Is she going to let you keep a couple?

I just put my ducklings in with the big chickens. It's not a big space, but they seem to get along. The roosters don't bother the ducks and the ducks don't bother them.
