What kind of chicken laid that???

Well, I don't exactly know how I did it, but I kept her in a specific area most of the time them allowed her to figure out on her own how to move around, and after a few months she caught on and now she only poops in... The bathtub, which is where I kept her (bad.move.) but I can carry her all around everywhere an let her roam around the whole bathroom whenever and she only poops in the tub. Next time I'm going to do it in a cardboard box though cause my parents are not pleased xD
Also how old was she when you could tell she was "potty trained?" How long did it take?

Ancona 8 1/2 days old!

Its just a big tub from wallyworld, BIGGEST is always better,so pay the extra 5 bucks for a bigun.... used a utility knife to cute two sections on the top and wire is cut and ziptied, NOTE it would look "cleaner" if I would have ziptied them on the underside of the lid so you cant see the wire edges lol....oh and its nice because I can a book over the top of the one section if I need it warmer! and then I just added a baking pan and one of those baking cooling racks....

Aww so sweet , thanks for shareing .
I use tubs like that for my quail to live in and for a brooder for biger babies like right now I have the 3 4 week old serama in one. I used duct tape but the zip ties would hold better I think.

That is awesome! Well as long as you clean it up ...better then going all over the house! Do you have Netflix? If so look up The natural history of the chicken...there is a women on there who has an indoor chicken...its a bit over the top but it is funny
I don't have Netflix :/

She is from the Nov 15 hatch and will be an addition to our layer coop!!
Awe!! :)

So she just figured it out on her own? I thought that chickens (like most animals) weren't clean- thinking animals. Would that work on almost all chickens do you think?

OOoooOOh! I say let her try and hatch 'em. I have ZERO knowledge about ducks, but that would be cool to hatch, wouldn't it?

Yeah she figured it out on her own after about a few months, but we didn't realize till she started flying around the whole room all the time but only pooped in the bathtub... It took a couple months. And ok I'll try to hatch the duck, I put the egg in the bator yesterday and I'm gonna see if it'll develop!!!

I ran across this thread from another thread and I have not read the whole thing, so please forgive me if this question has already been asked. I have 24 eggs in the bator ready to go to lockdown on Wednesday night. I've hatched shipped eggs before, but not with a whole lot of success. I was just wondering should I leave them standing up in egg crates to hatch or lay them down? This is only my second hatch in my new bator - hovabator genesis. my other bator was a very old LG and my temp and humidity never stayed constant, so my hatches were not good. I was just wondering everyones opinion on this matter. thnx in advance!
