Well I don't know anything about ducks, so I probably won't do it. It would be cool, but I don't have a separate coop. Do they need a pond? I know they can't fly... or at least me neighbor tells me.

Ducks aren't actually that hard to hatch, from what I've learned. I incubate them just like the chicken eggs, just misted them occasionally. They take a little longer than chicken eggs I hatch- 28 days instead of 21. They don't need an actual pond or a separate coop- just something like a kiddie pool from Walmart or something that they could paddle around in. My mallard doesn't fly, and she cooperates just fine with the chickens

Is she lonely for other ducks, or is she best buds with the chickens? I could get a kiddie pool. What do they eat? My neighbor says they can eat chicken food. Is that okay?

A duck also needs to have water to eat. As a duck eats it drinks water to help the food go down its throat. A duck out of water is a bad thing. Ducks need water and lots of it.
Ducks are fun to have but if you don't want to care for a duck in the winter you can get a wild mallard baby duck.

What about this? Water would definitely freeze.

I have water for my duck in the coop 24/7 and it never freezes. But then again, I live in GA. I feed her chicken food plus grass an other edible things I find outside that ducks like. And I never have to worry about her not having enough- she makes it VERY clear to me when she wants something LOL xD I think it would be a great experience for you to hatch ducks- they are amazing! But it is your choice! :)

Hmm I am kinda worried about my incubation..... I candled a couple eggs today... The silkies seem to be developing awesome- big, lots of veins, perfect... But the FCMs- I can't tell... I did not see any veining or chicks, just te air cell, a layer of clear, and at the bottom, a dark layer... Could this just be because they are too dark to candle, or is there something wrong??
