3 day old dark Cornish chick. No pasty butt and everyone was running around when I checked on them this morning. She is one of the ones I handled the least. I did a health check and brooder clean out last night and everyone was good, two pasty butts asside.

Ok... Perplexed! I'm locking down eggs tonight! I have candled them all. My problem, 3 of the eggs don't look ready even though they were all put in the same time. There's movements inside the three... Just looks like a couple of days difference than the one I put in the hatcher. Should I put them in or wait another day? I'll take a picture. The others look just like they're supposed to.

:hugs awwww  I had a bad feeling when I seen the pic with the bloody viening already openned up :hit  I dont like to question when its already done.  It had far too much membrane off for that much of a lively membrane.  awwwww  lesson learned.

I cant stress enough that any blood AT ALL, it just isnt ready and helping too soon can cause too much stress and opens them up to all that bacteria to enter through unclosed membrane veining and stuff. If you think about it, they absorb that blood and all of those fine stringy things along with all that yolk, if any bacteria gets on anypart they can easily draw it into their bodies. : (

I hope the others do well! How old is your daughter? She is so beautiful! :love I was thinking about letting Harmony assist the next chick if it needs it, I want to teach her to tell when to help and how to do it right. think she is too little at 8? she does a great job watching and telling me what to do! She needs to be a teacher when she grows up!!

Well Alex is 14 but she hasn't been raised around them but some kids have a knack so it would be neat if you talked her through it
