Adding to this stateement.... to FEEL for the eye or the bill(beak) before opening to make sure of positions


Look at the membrane before you wet it, alot of times you can see a brownish mark where they are trying to make their internal pip, thats where his beak will be.
If not you know the first place to look is the lowest dip in the air cell.

What do you mean to not pull his beak? so I should just moist the membrane and leave him be? I thought that I would try to find his beak and pull it up so that he could begin breathing properly?

I've got tweezers, antibiotic sap, and Q tips by my side. Should I grab anything else?

Oh and about bleeding out. Celtic Oaks gave me a huge warning about that. If I don't feel comfortable, then I'll wet the membrane and leave it be for a little while longer.

Sorry for all of the questions, but I have one more.

If something did go wrong, are there any household products that could be used to stop the bleeding? I've read about vinegar and sugar, would either of those be safe to use with a chick?

You can use layer crumbles. This is what I feed in:

Do they eat less feed this way? Do you save on feed?

Gosling Update:

I took the top off, then I smeared antibiotic sab onto the membrane with a Q tip. I can see the baby perfectly, but those bloods vessels are really intimidating. He hasn't internally pipped yet and there was no brown spot on the membrane. The gosling is correctly positioned with it's beak near the air cell in the lower section. He's back in the incubator. I think I'll see if he pips himself first, because I don't want to hit those veins. There's a little bit of fluid left, but not much.
