3D that pic in the thread you link is much better! LOL It is the navel. Put the Neosporin on it, if you have some, and leave it. I'm going off now, but I'll check on you first thing tomorrow. And congrats on the chicks

No alcohol. It can be any generic antibiotic ointment with bacitracin and or neomycin as the active ingredient. Donr freak out. Its not a life threatener at this stage. Honestly, if it can dry on its own, its better. Bodies are designed to heal naturally. Often we make things moist with ointments and creams that actually make things mushy and longer to heal

I am still worried about it getting infected. Would I be able to wrap something around her bum so she doesn't scratch it?

Touching it with anything will actually give her a higher chance of infection. This is why we work so hard to make sure our incubators are extremely clean in sterile prior to hatching. Leave her be and let her rest... It will close up. If you have the cream Oz mentioned, that would be ok. But hands must be clean clean and I wouldn't wrap her with anything. It could work against her holding moisture & germs in.

Okay, I have Polysporin and Q-tips... Should I put it on there or no? I also have sterile gauze wrap- will I need that?

Not sure about the polysporin as it has three different antibiotics in it. I don't know if they are chick safe and can't look it up right now... Oz? Leave her be for now. Actual air and drying will be good for it & help.it close up. Let's see what Oz says... Gotta run. Have a 2 hour drive and I'll check in later.

Does this hurt the baby chick? I read somewhere that if they close their eyes for a long time that it can mean that they are in pain- She is peeping with her eyes closed. I am a worry- wart.

I am going to wrap it up in sterile gauze very lightly so she doesn't pull any more off... That can't hurt.
